Because everything in the world is connected, rhythms of nature reach and affect lives of people and all living things.
At the same time, the rhythms of people’s lives have great power to create, but also destroy our natural world. Species extinction occurs every minute. And climate change that results from human activities paints a grim picture for the future. The health of nature is our own health--some people are aware of this, others are not. |
Therefore, we are organizing an international music and education event, to be held in Thailand in March 2009: We sing for nature, we dance with the Earth. This event has three integrated parts:
- Rhythm of Music: an international music festival, with musicians and bands from Thailand, Australia, India, Africa, including various indigenous peoples from these countries, and
- Rhythm of Nature: environmental education events dedicated to teaching people about the ecology of the Andaman Sea (where the event is held) and the threats it faces from climate change.
- Rhythm of Life: environmental education events that empower people to make healthy choices in their lives that help rather than hurt nature, and to take action to make their communities more sustainable.
People attending this event will include tourists, local villagers, students from 20 provincial schools, and conservationists of all kinds.
We sing for nature, we dance with the Earth will be held on the beach at Khao Lak (on the beautiful Andaman Sea coast), Phang Nga Province, in southern Thailand, from 13-15 March, 2009. |
